About

Bridging cloud-grade security and operational space systems

Why we exist

Space systems built by modern engineering teams sit in an awkward gap. Traditional aerospace consultancies rarely offer cloud-grade security architecture. Traditional cybersecurity firms rarely understand the operational constraints of spacecraft, ground networks, or constellations. The pieces a new-space company actually needs—PKI that scales to thousands of nodes, secure update under intermittent connectivity, command authority that survives partial outages, tenant isolation for orbital compute—fall through the middle.

Pacific Coast Space Systems was founded to work in that gap.

Our background

Our practice draws on PKI and platform security experience from Cloudflare, where modern cryptography and key management practices are built and operated at internet scale. It draws equally on hands-on satellite operations, embedded systems, and security work from Planet Labs and Rocket Lab, and on electrical systems engineering from NASA JPL. We've worked at the scale where modern security tooling is defined, and on the operational reality of orbital assets that can't be rebooted on a whim.

Who we serve

We work with satellite operators, orbital compute and hosted payload platforms, optical and RF link providers, ground network operators, and space-ground software teams. Whether you're standing up a new constellation, taking an existing system through its first serious security review, or designing the trust model for a new orbital service, we meet you in your operational context rather than handing you a generic compliance checklist.

Operational space experience

Satellite operations, embedded systems, ground networks, and mission engineering. We understand the constraints your team works under.
